Robotics Engineer for Manipulation Tasks in Agricultural Environment 

Location: Genova, Fixed-Term Contract

For this position, we are looking for a highly motivated and proactive Robotics Engineer for Manipulation Tasks in Agricultural Environments, centered around VINUM, our project on the automation of grapevine winter pruning.

After more than 5 years of development and field trials in collaboration with viticulture experts from the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Piacenza, the VINUM project is passing through a tech incubation process leading to future career possibilities.

Within the team, the main responsibilities will be to:

  • Evolve the existing motion framework for the robotic arm. 

  • Design of novel techniques to approach the organs of the plant 

  • Execute and support experiments in the lab at IIT and during outdoor field tests 

  • Integrate with the team of researchers and technicians supporting day to day R&D. 

REQUIREMENTS 

  • An excellent Master degree in Computer Science, Robotics or engineering/related areas. Interested PhD holders are also encouraged to submit their application. 

  • Knowledge about motion planning frameworks for manipulators  

  • Development experience using C++, Python, the OO paradigm (under Linux), ROS2 and Gazebo

The Dynamic Legged Systems lab is constantly looking for Master students who wish to perform an internship or their Msc thesis in our labs; as well as freshly graduated MSc degree holders interested in an internship.
