Laura Triglia is a researcher in cognitive robotics, human-agent interaction, and the design of intelligent systems. Her research explores how people interpret, trust, and collaborate with artificial agents, with the aim of translating this knowledge into adaptive technologies that can understand and respect social dynamics.
She obtained her PhD in Bioengineering and Robotics at the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT), within the Cognitive Robotics, Interaction, and Rehabilitation Technologies curriculum. During her PhD, she investigated the cognitive and behavioral mechanisms underlying both competitive and collaborative interactions between humans and artificial agents, combining experimental research, computational modeling, and robotic-system development. Her work ranges from designing intelligent agents to empirically evaluating how people perceive, interpret, and interact with autonomous systems in complex and dynamic social contexts.
Driven by the belief that technology should integrate naturally and meaningfully into the environments where people live and work, she currently focuses on graph-based representations and cognitive architectures to model complex interactions and support adaptive decision-making. Her vision is that future intelligent systems should be not only efficient, but also able to understand human expectations, adapt to social norms, and respond to evolving needs.
